Offcuts are more than waste. They can represent tied-up cash, reusable material or a sign that calculations and cutting need review.
Identify the source
Record whether an offcut resulted from a bar, a cut, changed dimensions, an error or overbuying. Without a cause, the number cannot guide improvements.
Separate reusable material from scrap
Classify dimensions, condition and possible uses. A simple rule prevents available material being mixed with permanent waste.
Compare against the quote
Compare planned, purchased and consumed material to adjust waste allowances and the next proposal.
Read about gross and net material in quotes. This guide describes a management practice; it does not imply Aluminus currently provides inventory or offcut management.
